KORGUA ESTATE
NEBILYER VALLEY, PAPUA NEW GUINEA

Green Apple, Clove, Brown Sugar

Making its glorious return from Papua New Guinea, it’s Korgua PB!

Just like last year, this version is a washed bourbon/typica peaberry.

Typically, coffee cherries contain two seeds. However, peaberry is a rare mutation where only a single seed develops within the fruit. These single seeds are generally smaller and denser than regular coffee beans and are often perceived as sweeter.

In contrast to most smallholder farms, Korgua Estate resembles the larger estates of the past. Its owner, Brian Leahy, also oversees the Kuta Mill, strategically located on neutral territory to facilitate coffee trade between growers from rival tribes.

In this year’s Korgua PB, we experienced the crisp tartness of green apple, pleasant spiciness of clove, and sweet richness and depth of brown sugar.
